THE POWER OF MATCHA

I have heard so many good things about Matcha Tea that I had to go out and buy some. I found it at EarthFare for 17.99. I also wanted to prepare it with a bamboo whisk so I bought that to. I have yet to find a tea bowl so I just used one out of my kitchen. I think you could probably prepare this with a regular whisk. You sift 1-2 tsp of matcha into a cup using a sifter. I used 2 tsps. and that was to much. Add 2 ounces of boiling water, water is best when it is just under a boil. Whisk vigorously in a zig zag motion until frothy.

I tried the sample I received for free from MatchaSource first and it was delicious. This tea tastes just like tea only it is a little bit stronger. However, you can adjust the amount per tsp. to get your desired taste. It is a little bit thicker than your basic tea and of course it is colored green. Dakota Matcha contains 100% matcha green tea powder from Japan. No sugar, additives or preservatives. This end-of-harvest blend is pale in color and astringent on the palate. Add Dakota Matcha to blended drinks, green tea smoothies, matcha recipes, supplements and other food applications. Froth with milk, blend with fruit or add the rich taste of matcha green tea to desserts, sauces and pastry.

I then proceeded to the Matcha that I bought from EarthFare, U•Matcha® Ginger tastes a little bit different and I am not saying I prefer one over the other. But this one has a hint of Ginger that I love. It is also more readily available than the MatchaSouce as I discovered the one they sent me was sold out online. Premium U•Matcha™ Ginger is unlike regular green tea, these tender, shade-grown leaves are ground to a fine powder creating a spicy kick of flavors in baked goods or savory dishes. This exceptional tea is abundant in nutrients and has the balanced flavors of what is referred to as umami (literally, "yummy" in Japanese). Premium U•Matcha™ Ginger wakes up the flavors of miso soup, stir-fry, and sweet desserts.

Matcha has so many health benefits. If you drink tea hot or cold then you would love this tea.

When you drink matcha you ingest the entire leaf and receive 100% of the nutrients of the leaf

Matcha powdered green tea has 137 times more antioxidants than regularly brewed green tea

One cup of matcha = 10 cups of regularly brewed green tea in terms of nutritional content
Is packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg

                                              Boosts metabolism and burns calories
                                              Detoxifies effectively and naturally
Calms the mind and relaxes the body
Is rich in fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins
Enhances mood and aids in concentration
Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
                                              Prevents disease
                                              Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar

Antioxidants are the body’s defense agents. They are chemical compounds that prevent aging and chronic diseases. Put simply, the more you have, the better equipped your body is in the fight against infections and disease.

So in ending I believe that Matcha Tea is a great alternative to other teas. If you enjoy tea at all and would like the healthy benefits of Matcha then it would behoove you to check it out. Yes, it is a little pricey but it does not take much to make a single serving. With all the healthy benefits it is definitely worth the extra money you will pay.
